Today Facebook announced they are looking to integrate WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
Whilst all three apps will still remain as they are, Facebook is looking to link all messages at a deeper level, allowing its users to message across the different services.
The idea was first reported in the New York Times and is believed to be Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s personal project.
In order for this to work successfully, it will no doubt require thousands of Facebook employees to reconfigure how all the applications (WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger) work at the basic messaging levels.
This is a very big move for Facebook, especially after the recent privacy issues.
